Building a Survey¶
Do I need any technical skill to build a survey?¶
No - the Survey Builder is built for a general business audience, not developers. You can build a complete survey by adding, editing, and rearranging questions directly, with no code or technical setup required.
Can I edit a survey after it's been generated with AI?¶
Yes - however you create a survey, whether question by question or by prompting the AI Survey Builder, the result is a normal, fully editable set of questions afterward. Editing it manually costs nothing regardless of how it was originally created.
Is there a limit to how many questions a survey can have?¶
There's no fixed limit built into the platform, though our guide to building a good survey covers why shorter, more focused surveys generally perform better - length is more a design decision than a platform restriction.
AI Survey Builder¶
How does the AI Survey Builder work?¶
You describe what you're trying to learn in a written prompt, and it generates a starting set of questions based on that description. It's meant to give you a strong first draft to react to and refine, not necessarily a finished survey on the first attempt - see our guide to writing good prompts for getting a better first result.
Does using the AI Survey Builder cost credits?¶

Can I regenerate just part of a survey rather than starting over?¶
You can always manually edit, remove, or add individual questions after an AI generation pass rather than treating the result as all-or-nothing - editing afterward is free regardless of how much you change.
What if the AI-generated questions aren't quite what I wanted?¶

Display Logic and Follow-Up Questions¶
Can I show or hide questions based on a previous answer?¶
Yes - display logic lets you route respondents to different questions depending on how they answered an earlier one, so someone who answers one way doesn't have to see questions that don't apply to them.
What are AI-generated follow-up questions?¶
Certain survey setups support a follow-up question that's generated dynamically based on what a respondent just answered, rather than a fixed, pre-written follow-up - useful for probing deeper into an open-ended answer without writing every possible follow-up in advance. Previewing what a specific follow-up will look like before it goes live draws from your credit balance.
Can I preview how display logic will behave before publishing?¶

Publishing¶
Does publishing a survey cost credits?¶
Yes - publishing is one of the credit-consuming actions, alongside AI generation and a handful of others. See our credit consumption guide for the complete list.
Can I make changes after a survey is published and already collecting responses?¶
Editing a live survey is possible, though changing questions after responses have already come in can make earlier and later responses harder to compare cleanly - it's generally safer to pilot test thoroughly before publishing rather than making structural changes mid-collection.
Is there a limit to how many responses a survey can collect?¶
Response collection itself doesn't draw from your credit balance regardless of volume - credits are tied to specific AI-assisted actions, not to how many people respond to your survey.
